The runners high should happen after you are done, and you feel horrible, but there is a bit of elation at your accomplishment, so it makes you forget the pain you just went through, and you actually look forward to the next time you get to get out. It is going to boring, but it is a great time to reflect, or just zone out. Sounds like you need to stretch more to alleviate the calf pain, or you need new shoes.
Shoes are huge. I don't know what you're wearing, but a good pair can make a difference. I didn't know running became un-boring. Fortunately, there's pain and exhaustion to distract you... Ever consider biking? Or ice skating :)?
Yeah, running never got unboring for me. Music helped, as did watching the seconds tick away on my watch. Although, that may have actually made time go slower. Now, if I could just get myself to get out there and start running again...I need some motivation...
